Titleist player Manassero named 'Rookie of the year'

Full line Titleist player Matteo Manassero has been named the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year following his sensational European Tour season, which saw him break numerous Tour records. The Italian trusted the performance and feel of Titleist equipment throughout his bag on the way to claiming his maiden professional victory at the Castelló Masters and recording a number of top-10 finishes, ultimately leading Manassero to 31st place on the final Race to Dubai standings.

Manassero’s win in October, only 6 months after turning professional, saw him become the European Tour’s youngest ever winner at 17 years and 188 days, and also the European Tours youngest ever full member, beating the long-standing record held by Seve Ballesteros who joined at the age of 17 years and 200 days in 1974. Manassero’s consistent performances throughout the 2010 season saw him make 13 cuts in the 14 tournaments he played as a professional, as well as claiming victory in Spain. Such performances have quickly put him alongside the likes of fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy as one of the hottest young prospects in world golf.

Manassero used Titleist equipment throughout his bag in his rookie season, including the new 910 D2 driver, which a host of Titleist Brand Ambassadors have put into play across worldwide professional tours since it was first seeded on Tour in June. Manassero also trusted the legendary Pro V1x ball, 909F2 fairway, 909H hybrid, AP2 irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled approach and lob wedges, and Scotty Cameron Fastback putter, benefitting from the feel and control of Titleist equipment from tee-to-green.

Manassero’s award completes a strong week for Titleist Brand Ambassadors on the European Tour, following Robert Karlsson’s win in the season ending Dubai World Championship. The Swede, who topped the European Tour Order of Merit in 2008, also benefitted from the precision and power of the 910 driver to claim victory, following the likes of Ross Fisher and Adam Scott who have also topped leaderboards with the new Titleist driver in the bag.

The 910 series, which is now available to the European market, is the most stable and precise driver Titleist has ever produced. Featuring the innovative SureFit Tour technology, the 910 driver is the first Titleist model to feature adjustability, which combined with an optimised centre of gravity and stable head design, offers total performance. The control of the 910 drivers has been validated by a host of Titleist Brand Ambassadors who have already used it to top leaderboards around the world, including Ross Fisher, Ben Crane, Charley Hoffman, Adam Scott, Matteo Manassero and Robert Karlsson.

A fantastic Rookie of the Year award for full line Titleist player Matteo Manassero completing a stellar performance by Titleist’s Brand Ambassadors and golf ball loyalists, combined with the constant flow of victories for Pro V1 players around the world, prove once again that the game's elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
